“Surface Code Design for Asymmetric Error Channels”

Video recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NpgYqP_RYo

Abstract from Aleksandra:

Surface codes are quantum error-correcting codes normally defined on 2D arrays of qubits. During the lecture, a new surface code design will be introduced, based on the fact that the severity of bit-flip and phase flip errors in the physical quantum systems is asymmetric. For the proposed surface code design for asymmetric error channels, results of several experiments will be presented, utilizing the presence of various degrees of asymmetry of Pauli X, Y , and Z errors in a depolarisation channel.

Aleksandra Lipińska is a Computer Mathematics student affiliated with the Jagiellonian University in Poland. She is a member QPoland - an organisation focused on popularising Quantum Computing. She specialises in Quantum Error Correction and the Mathematics of Quantum Computing.

This meeting is organized by the Quantum AI Foundation.
